In order to use Veeam with Cynny Space environment you need to proceed with the following steps:
Deploy and setup a Block Storage Gateway;
Create a Veeam repository with a Block Storage Gateway target;
1 - Block Storage Gateway
You can follow these instructions to deploy and setup a Virtual Machine with S3QL file system.
After that step you'll have a Cynny Space bucket mounted in /mnt/spaceshare (or in your selected mountpoint) of your deployed Virtual Machine.
2 - Create Veeam repository
NOTE: in the following steps is used Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5.
Select BACKUP INFRASTRUCTURE and then select LINUX SERVER between the Managed Servers entry:
The following window will appear, and you should enter the IP address of the VM deployed here (i.e. 192.168.199.178) and proceed with the Next button.
Select the Add button to insert login credentials to the Linux VM:
Select Linux Account:
Enter default VM credentials (Username space, Password space) or any newly defined password. Then select Ok and Apply in the next window.
The following window will now be displayed where a confirmation of TRUST linked to the Linux system will be requeste. Select Yes to continue.
The Summary window will now appear. Select Finish to complete the Linux system’s definition procedure.
After the previous operation on the screen Managed Servers you will see the new Linux Server has now been configured.
Then, to create a Veeam repository from the bucket mounted folder (i.e. /mnt/spaceshare), you must select the entry BACKUP INFRASTRUCTURE on the Home screen and then select the entry Backup Repositories.
In the name section, enter the name of the new Repository (e.g. REPONFS) and proceed to Next to the Type section.
Select the Linux server entry that defines the type of server (VM Linux) on which the new Repository will be located and then proceed with the button Next
Select from the Popup menu Server Repositories The IP address of the Linux Server.
Select the entry Populate to view the defined File System partitions. In the list of partitions you will find the following path /mnt/spaceshare, so select this partition and proceed with the button Next on the next screen.
In the repository section you will see the path that Veeam will place in the new repository. In our example the Path will be: /mnt/spaceshare/backups.
Select Populate to acquire information about the scale and disk space currently available.
The total space allocated in the partition and the available space refers to the partition that was defined on the Linux VM (NFSGW) and connected to the Cynny space system.
In the screen Mount Server select Next.
On the following screen titled Review there will be a summary of the selected options. Proceed by pressing the button Apply.
Complete the configuration by selecting the button Finish and verify that all the various Operations performed by Veeam have given positive results, then proceed to the next section where you can create a Backup Job.
Once the operation is completed and you have returned to the main Backup Repository screen, the newly created REPONFS repository should be listed.
